When a community comes together…

By Alicia Brickey

In honor of National Food Bank day on September 7th, we were inspired to push that date into month-long food donation open to the community. We were inspired when we found a local food pantry that prepares a 55-pound box of nutritional food, as well as fresh produce and breads when available, to provide a food supplement to more than 1,000 individuals in Broward County. On top of the food they provide, as well as certain medications and healthcare services, the Pantry of Broward takes time to meet with each of their clients on a regular basis to determine each need that they may be able to help with.

From the beyond generous support of our community collective, we were able to provide a donation bigger than we ever expected. In total, our members raised 239 pounds of food for the donation. We are beyond grateful for this opportunity to give back the community we love.

Thank you to Dee Oliva, and the entire team at The Pantry of Broward for this opportunity to give back to something that is everything to us, our community.

“We all do better when we work together. Our differences do matter, but our common humanity matters more.” – Bill Clinton
