Have you ever walked down the street and accidentally made eye contact with a stranger but instead of looking away they just smiled? You probably even smiled back. How did it make you feel? Some may say it even brightened their day.

The power behind a simple smile is so great that it can change a persons life. It can even be the very thing that decides their fate. It’s a power heard by the deaf and seen by the blind. A power that can influence everyone around because kindness is contagious just as laughs and smiles are uplifting.

It can be as simple as asking someone how they are doing. To show keen interest in someone besides yourself lets people know it’s not all about you. It allows them to see that you are interested in getting to know more about their lives instead of informing them on yours. Keep this in mind the next time you see someone who looks like all they need is a simple hello!
